Air Force Rapid Innovation Fund Contract Awarded to Nimbis Services Inc. for Cloud Solution to Trusted Silicon Stratus – Supply Chain Risk Management
Nimbis to deliver first-of-its kind DIACAP-compliant microelectronics supply chain
risk management ecosystem.
McLean, Virginia, March 4, 2014 — Nimbis Services, Inc. announced the company has been awarded a two-year Air Force Rapid Innovation Fund contract by Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) to develop a Trusted Silicon Stratus – Supply Chain Risk Management (TSS-SCRM) DIACAP-compliant cloud service. The Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) is a process by which information systems are certified for compliance with DoD security requirements and accredited for operation by a designated official.
Nimbis Services will deliver a first-of-its-kind multi-tenancy, inter-organizational, collaborative, trusted microelectronics Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) ecosystem that provisions a Design-To-Release-Manufacturing-to-operational-to-Life-Cycle-Management (LCM) cloud computing infrastructure and enterprise architecture. Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software and Integrated Circuit (IC) data repositories are implemented as a private community cloud computing WorkFlow-as-a-Service (WFaaS) for DoD R&D teams, contractors, and government research laboratories.
The overall objectives of the project are:
1) To develop, integrate, beta test, and deliver a TRL 8 (ASIC, FPGA, & SoC) design-to-release manufacturing-to-operational-to- LCM SCRM solution;
2) To deliver a DIACAP-compliant cloud solution that provides a secure multi-tenancy, inter-organizational, collaborative environment for the Air Force and the rest of the DoD communities;
3) To function as a secure data repository for trusted IC data, manufacturing, test data, supply, field defects, fatigue analysis, inventory, deployment, re-fit and upgrade, and data provenance in the DoD supply chain and acquisition cycle; and
4) To address the disparate, effectively independent nature of existing DoD IC design infrastructure that prohibits leveraging economies of scale and limits collaboration between DoD/contractor teams throughout the LCM of a weapons platform and associated subsystems.
“The TSS-SCRM technology is based on prior work funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and demonstrated at the GOMACTech 2012 conference and in the DARPA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)-funded Application Domain Portal Hosting Service project,” says Robert Graybill, Nimbis Services’ President and CEO. The technology’s TSS SCRM capability represents a key milestone in the journey of enabling virtual modeling and simulation design ecosystems for military systems. Additional extensions include smart manufacturing neutral cloud hosting services for large manufacturers and their supply chains.
